Magazine Advert

When designing what we wanted our magazine advert to look like, we had to take into account that our artist is up and coming which means that all the focus must be on him so that people begin to recognise him and his album. Having our artist and his name in the middle of the advert was key to keeping the focus all on him. We felt that having a picture of him with his guitar would signify what type of genre his music is. The location of the image is in a field which signifies nature and being free which helps to portray the genre. The information about the album is in a much smaller and duller font which helps to highlight the artist and his name. There is a bonus track which is available through scanning the QR code on the left hand side - this keeps the artist up to date and allows people to listen to what his music is like for free. His website and twitter account is also across the bottom of the advert. It is important to have a twitter account as fans love to know what their favourite artists are up to as well as being able to contact them. The star ratings is an important part and therefore we have placed it at the top in the middle to make sure people see it straight away. This tells people that his music has been well reviewed by magazines which could help to make them go and listen to his music.

Filming Update

Yesterday we finished filming our whole music video. We decided to use a member of the groups log cabin which they had at the bottom of their garden. We felt this was a better location than what we had decided on before as it has a more original and unique feel - which is what the indie genre is all about. We then decided that instead of the artist carrying each object and placing them around the room himself, the objects would instead appear one by one around him through using stop motion. The objects we chose to use were significant as the frames that were placed on the wall signified window frames - which is the title of the song. We also decided to use some other objects such as old guitars, cameras and pictures which helped to create a vintage feel.
